our story

Personal Account started out as a way to heal my brain after a bout of creative burnout. But, after feeling the difference journaling made in my daily life, I decided to grow my idea of helping my brain into a desire to help others reconnect with their passions and maintain healthy relationships with their brains, too.

about our founder

Hi there, my name’s Lindsay and in the beginning, Personal Account was my attempt to help my brain recover from creative (and general work-related) burnout. After losing my father suddenly in March 2023, starting a new job just a few months later, and then working through a stressful acquisition at work the next month, I lost all motivation to be creative.

In a last ditch effort to feel like myself again, I started journaling every day, something I’d tried to do a million times before. Free writing didn’t feel like me and I didn’t vibe with any of the guided daily or gratitude-focused journals, so I figured out five questions I could answer every day that would help my creativity and my brain.

Eventually, my carpal tunnel wouldn’t let me rewrite the questions everyday, so I looked into getting it printed instead. Once I realized how helpful journaling had become and how excited I was to be creative again, I figured there were other people out there feeling the same disconnection and frustration I’d felt.

So, in November 2023, after finding a printer and ordering a couple samples for myself, I decided to created different versions for each of the types of people I saw in my life that could use the same help: artists, caregivers (parents, people suddenly caring for their parents, etc.), crafters, entrepreneurs, magical practitioners (aka witches), students, writers, and other creative entrepreneurs like me.

Our mission is to give people a tool to help them maintain their passion or identity and mental health at the same time.

At Personal Account, we’re from the States, so we’re all too familiar with the unachievable productivity and quality requirements placed on us both in our workplace and in our other hobbies and passions. If you’re working on something, capitalism demands that you do so in a productive, monetizable way. Instead, our journals were made to help you prioritize your mental health and find pleasure in your hobbies purely for the sake of pleasure.

Whether you’re a creative entrepreneur who’s trying to maintain a healthy creative brain and enjoy your art or crafts outside of those fueling your business, or a student trying to stay sane in the midst of a busy class schedule and all the other demands that go along with furthering your education, Personal Account was designed for you. And if you still vibe with toxic hustle culture, maybe you need a Personal Account most; your brain will thank you for it.

We hope that through our journals and the content we post that you find some reassurance that you can find balance between your identity and mental health. By caring for yourself and finding fulfillment in your passions, we hope you can disconnect from toxic productivity and actually enjoy yourself again.
